Half Ton Teen Positions Bulemia In a Positive Light

I recently watched a show called "Half Ton Teen". Shocker- the show is about teenagers who weigh roughly half a ton. One of the teens was an eight hundred pound boy named Billy, whose mother, by her own admission, overfed and excessively babied her son in order to keep him in a child-like dependency, thereby creating a permanent child to make up for the baby she lost. Oooookay. Not only is that creepy and pathological, but it should be illegal. First of all, this woman has psychologically destroyed her own child; he is developmentally an eight old in a nineteen year old's body. Second of all, she has put him in physical danger. Billy's weight is so great that he is mostly bed ridden, develops a potentially deadly clot in his leg, and ends up needing to undergo dangerous weight loss surgery. All because his mother misses her dead baby. Doesn't the government step in a take children from their parents when they are in mental or physical harm? They dropped the ball on this one. Seems to me like dead baby really dodged a bullet with a mom like that.
My favorite part of the show had to be when nineteen year old Billy needed the assistance of several nurses to be lifted off of the "camode" as Billy calls it. Mommy dearest then asked nineteen year old Billy if he would like her to help him wipe. Yeah, help him wipe his ass. I get that his size makes it impossible for him to do it himself, but that is what the trained medical staff is there for. He's not dead baby. He doesn't need a diaper changed. He is a nineteen year old and the idea of his mother wiping his ass grossed me out and seemed wildly inappropriate. This is where Dr. House should have come out of no where and slapped her in the face with his cane. Really.
My second favorite part was when Crazy-Pants McGee (mommy) complains that the trained medical staff is making Billy walk too much. Really. . .? Really. . .? Is that your medical opinion Dr. Trans Fat? It would make sense if Billy just got out of Auschwitz, malnourished and weak, but if you are so fat that you need surgery, "too much walking" doesn't exist in your world. Risk the heart attack and keep on walking.
How did our society get to the point where parents are allowed to destroy the lives of their children out of "love"? People like that should be neutered.
